Notes from the 2026 State Meeting
The state meeting was held on Friday, May 1 at the Birmingham Hyatt Regency. Barb Williams started us off with a fun ice breaker game. Then Cherri Cox and Melanie Franks shared with us about the importance of discipleship in our homes and churches. Discipleship is a life-long process of following Jesus and encouraging others to do the same. Let’s build up one another and allow it to flow on to others, even outside our church. Events should not be planned just for the purpose of filling the calendar. Events should be planned to provide the opportunity to nurture faith and encourage one another. there are many things that can be planned, such as bible studies, prayer groups, ladies night out, game nights, women’s night of worship. Auxiliary meeting/women’s circles of the past can still be important parts of our lives. Not everyone will come but we must be involved with those that can and will. Your plans and programs need to have places where everyone will feel included. It all falls back to discipleship. But remember not everyone was raised in a Christian home or got saved at a young age. We need to remember that the growth in the Lord will be in different stages for everyone. We need to love people where they are and bring them along in their Christian Life. The best discipleship training is thru God’s word.
